Wa-Lawra Gold Project fly-through animation
The Wa-Lawra Gold Project is located in northwest Ghana, West Africa, and covers a total land holding of 2,857km2, including over 100km of strike of prospective Birmian greenstone belt - a geological setting known to host ‘world class’ gold deposits throughout Ghana and West Africa.
The Wa-Lawra Project represents approximately 70% of the entire Birmian greenstone belt in Ghana.
The project is located in an area of flat savannah terrain with excellent infrastructure; having grid power running through the project area, mobile phone coverage, the major regional

Following the announcement of this increased resource, Azumah’s focus has been on identifying new areas of gold mineralisation at Wa-Lawra with a view to increasing the project’s resource base to 1 – 2 million ounces, to underpin a long life open pit mining operation.
Regional Exploration
The Wa-Lawra Project is considered to have outstanding exploration upside, with numerous defined targets and untested geochemical gold anomalies.
The size and level of gold anomalism seen at Wa-Lawra, the favourable structural setting and presence of regional scale structures throughout the project area all provide excellent indications that repetitions of Kunche style mineralisation could potentially occur.
Reconnaissance drilling in 2007 at the new Bepkong target, 2km north of Kunche, confirmed gold mineralisation at the head of a largely untested 2km north-south Kunche-Bepkong soil anomaly, including an exciting intersection of 20m @ 4.1g/t gold.
In addition, new mineralisation was also identified immediately west of Kunche, including 12m @ 4.02g/t gold within 32m @ 1.86g/t gold from 20m, and immediately east of Kunche including 6m @ 7.33g/t gold from 5m and 7m @ 3.95g/t gold from 10m within broader lower-grade zones.
Outside of the main Kunche area, Azumah is also developing an increasing pipeline of anomalies and drill ready targets including at the Butele, Basibli, Duri, Doggo, Yagha and Kuo prospects.
Current activities:
Under the supervision of Azumah’s expanded technical and logistical team an accelerated multi-phase exploration programme is planned for the March 2008 Quarter, comprising:
- Kunche: resource remodelling, metallurgical work, drill target definition, drill testing of new Kunche West and Kunche East mineralisation, terms of reference for scoping studies.
- Bepkong - Kunche: Infill and extension drilling, rock chip sampling and field mapping.
- Kunche West: Power auger sampling and RC drilling.
- New Targets (Basabli, Duri, Doggo, Yagha, Butele, Kuo): First pass and reconnaissance RC drilling.
- TOTAL: 6,000m combined RC and RAB drilling and 3,000m auger samples.
